Q – Is it okay if I submit a test file to be sure that it processes correctly before finishing my final document?
A – Absolutely, that's why we’re here!
Q – I have technical questions about preparing my files. Who can I call?
A – Contact Les Visi, Bill Bowman or Jeremy Lambert in our production department.
Q – How much bleed do you require?
A – Generally, one eighth of an inch is fine.
Q – Should I trap my file?
A – No, our system looks after the trapping for you.
Q – How can I get my project to you?
A – You can give the material to your CPC sales representative, upload it to our FTP server, send via courier or drop it off in person.
Q – Who do I contact to get FTP log-in credentials?
A – Contact Les Visi, Bill Bowman or Jeremy Lambert in our production department.
Q – What FTP client software do you recommend?
A – We suggest
Transmit on the Mac and
Filezilla on Windows or Linux.
Q – Should I submit a hard copy of my finished project?
A – Yes! It is always a good idea to supply a hard copy for reference.
Q – What is the preferred page layout application?
A – We prefer Adobe InDesign, but Quark XPress is okay too.
Q – Should I supply native files or is a PDF okay?
A – A correctly prepared PDF is actually preferable, however we require a PDF/X-1a file, with trim marks and bleed turned on.
Q – What is the big deal with PDF/X-1a?
A – See our
PDF resource page.
Q – If I supply a PDF/X-1a file, should I also supply my native files?
A – It is sometimes helpful for us to have the native files should we be required to make edits.
